The Cradle

There are 3 million moving parts in a Boeing 777. Three million little (or not so little) things that you don't control.

Who's your daddy?

There are thousands of food processing plants in your country, with several hundred thousand employees working night and day to ensure that there's food on your table tonight.

Come give momma some sugar...

He edged slightly forward, every muscle straining. Unconsciously, he held his breath. It was time to add to his own burden while laying down that of another.
Under his foot a dry leaf cracked, and that was all it took. The chance was gone, and it would likely be a few days before another came. His stomach rumbled and he closed his eyes.

And he prayed. Prayed for a blessing, a gift from the heavens... anything that would ease the endless suffering.

  1. My brother briefly worked on the sanitation crew for Apio. Apio sells those prepackaged salads and veggie trays people pick up because they are too lazy to buy the product whole.

They had random station checks nightly which meant the place was very clean. But my brother had to wear head to toe yellow slickers, goggles and a mask because of the high concentration of cleaning solution. Within a week his nostrils were raw; he was wearing the mask. Our food is rolling around in a "clean" processing facility that left my brother's nose raw. What does it do to my insides? Cause you can't tell me the food doesn't end up contaminated by the sanitation process.

    1. We've made for ourselves the world we live in, for better or for worse... Being able to get your produce from a farmers market, unwashed with soil still caked on gives some measure of relief, but still... pesticides were probably used. We're all just babes in the cradle, and when momma comes in with a bad case o' the postpartum blues and decides to smother us with our pillow, there ain't gonna be much we can do...
